Las Vegas is becoming a totally different kind of sports town thanks to the NHL’s Golden Knights and the NFL’s Raiders, but minor league baseball has provided the city with a true hometown team since 1983. The Stars became the 51s and now the team is the Las Vegas Aviators, opening its 2019 season in the brand-new Las Vegas Ballpark in Downtown Summerlin this month. Throughout most of the franchise’s existence, Don Logan has been there, serving in various positions including ticket manager, general manager and president. One of the true architects of the local sports landscape and a member of the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, Logan is our guest for this preseason episode of All The Vegas with host Mark Shunock and guest co-host Ken Boehlke.

All The Vegas

ATV21: Don Logan

All The Vegas host Mark Shunock and guest co-host Ken Boehlke talk with Don Logan, president of the Las Vegas Aviators.

We also talk with Don about the future of Major League Baseball in Las Vegas; possible partnerships between the Aviators and new neighbors the Vegas Golden Knights; his time working as executive vice president for Mandalay Sports Entertainment; the long list of talented ball players that have come through Vegas; how the game experience will be different and better at the new venue; and, of course, the hot dog situation at the Las Vegas Ballpark.

Don is a true Las Vegan and has some great restaurant recommendations. He loves Joe’s Stone Crab at the Forum Shops and Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.

Ken is obsessed with the regal Japanese cuisine at Zuma at the Cosmopolitan. “It is the best food I have ever had in my life.” He actually said that. Get the sesame-crusted beef tenderloin.

Mark rounds out this all-food edition of The Vegas You Need with a nod to the Halal Guys, which just opened a third location at Venetian.
